In 1910, a small cake shop owned by Mr. Kwok Tai Ping, an immigrant from Hong Kong, was established on a small street in the Chinatown neighborhood of Singapore. The bakery specializes in traditional Cantonese-style pastries that are handcrafted daily from ingredients sourced from the region. Tai Thong has been with the people of the Lion Island nation through many ups and downs and prosperous moments of history, witnessing the separation and independence of the country. Tai Thong has preserved a long-standing cultural heritage and has become an iconic destination in Singapore’s historic Chinatown.

After many years of family-scale business, in 1971, the first modern Chinese cuisine restaurant system was born in Jalan Imbi, Malaysia, and then continued to expand the network to Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei, etc., a strong development to reach Asian scale.
Tai Thong has become a global brand of famous Chinese cuisine restaurants. In 2000, Tai Thong won the title of “The largest Chinese Restaurant in Malaysia”, certified by Malaysia Book of Record.
In 2002, Tai Thong participated in the competition of “The 4th Chinese Food Wold Championship” and won most of competition categories, especially mooncake categories.
